Paige (a.k.a. Survival Mama) – Born and raised in the country, I guess I had no choice but to be a survivalist from the get-go. I grew up gardening, canning, fishing, camping, crafting, and raising animals and I brought those loves with me when I moved to the city to find work. I’ve grown salad greens in old sweater boxes, cooked the majority of my own food (even my frozen convenience food tends to be homemade), mixed up my own cosmetics, and made/altered my own clothing and goods, at first because I was dirt-poor and now because I believe that it’s a better way to live. Being self-reliant is important to me and it’s a skill that I hope to pass on to my daughter.
I love to learn, I’m always on the lookout for good nonfiction books that teach me something. Books to hang onto. I like to thrift shop. I love to keep my hands busy with textile arts, especially crochet, rugmaking, and embroidery. I also love to garden and cook.
Last, and most important, I’m a mother who loves my daughter more than anything else in the world and I want to connect with other parents who are interested in raising their children to be good, intelligent, self-reliant people.
